The INDA
(Ireland .NET Developers Alliance)
South East branch had it's first event last Thursdy night and in my opinion it was well worth attending.
The speaker was
Rob Burke
and he gave a very informative presentation and demonstration of the architecture and functionality of Visual Studio .NET 2005, which is currently in it's Beta 2 stage.
I found myself excited by the prospect of .NET 2005, something which I have never felt about a development tool EVER before! Of particular interest to me were the new refactoring features allowing you, for example, to pull sections of code out and put them into seperate methods automatically. This looks to be a great feature and I hope it performs to its full potential (although I don't see how it can not.)
This morning when I came in to work, I immediately placed an order for my very own copy of VS.NET 2005 Beta 2 (which is available FREE for a limited time from
here
.)
After the event we all went to the bar and had a few drinks, with everyone there proving themselves to be thoroughly nice people. I am already looking forward to the next event!
All in all, an excellent event and a big thank you must go to the organisers who did a stearling job.
