My web site is at www.frankdevlin.net .

I'm a Dublin based IT systems person offering database programming services (SQL Server, Access), project management, coding services (VB, VBA, asp), web development (Frontpage, asp, .NET, html), installations, upgrades, and so on.

Weblogs have been around on the web for over 7 years now, and to my mind seem to be ego-trips   for many users, but imho because of the features of rss feeds are now becoming more useful.

As an aside, Google and others are not big fans of RSS , and are going for the new blogger syndication format known as ATOM

In any case, I intend to use mine for the Irish techie audience who are most likely to view the posts here (if anyone does :)).  Desk-jockeys, techie people, and web junkies are the types of people who are most likely to view your blog posts, so if they're your target audience, it may be a good idea to set up a blog. They're usually free to set up, but the big cost is of course the time involved in posting to them.

A few more tips for those of you thinking of becoming a blogger...

• Look for a blog posting community on a mainstream site that your target audience may be hitting anyway.
• Put the effort into spell-checking & tidying-up your posts if you want them to be taken seriously. If its just for fun, well thats different.
• Lastly, if you don't have anything interesting, educational, or humourous to say - why bother ?

Cheers
