Re: Best Dedicated ASP.NET Hosting in Ireland - Anyone?

Someone better defend Irish hosting companies. I'm with dbahost.ie hosting out of the National Software Centre in Cork. Most hosting companies will give you a good colocation deal and €99pm is fairly competitive. It makes sense to go locally for colo seeing as you got to get the server into the data centre and may need to access it in the event of a hardware fault etc.
If you require managed hosting (dedicated or shared) then you other issues come into play. You should look at the competencies of the hosting provider prior to choosing them, look for references etc., emphasise your technical requirements and explain the criticality of your application rather than just trying to get it on a server at the lowest price. You will invariably get a better price by hosting abroad where the economies of scale often lead to lower ISP services costs. By staying closer to home you will at least be able to pass judgement on your hosting provider by checking out recommendations, developer networks etc. You can also get support during normal working hours. If your applications are predominantly US based and you require support at 2am Irish time then it may be best to go with someone over there.
There are enough Irish hosting companies to satisfy most people. At dbahost.ie we specialise in Oracle, Coldfusion, JSP as well as dot net, php, mysql, sqlserver, mail services etc. Other companies have their own specialist areas.
